Return to Leeds

After a quiet weekend at home I am now back in Leeds. At least this week I will be able to take some digital photos in the archive so that I can continue with the translations back in the office.
I am not getting to see much of Leeds. It is a matter of up the hill to the University in the morning and stopping off at a restaurant on the way down the hill to the hotel! So far there seems to be a plethora of Italian restaurants and not much else. I love pasta etc but I really fancy a curry or a burger!
Unfortunately I finished my book on the way down today so I now have nothing to read all week! I will just have to listen to mIpod instead!

Day 3

Ok. Today has been a bummer! Everyone told me it would get easier and quicker as I progressed with the translations. You are all liars!!!
It has been a really tough day and I am feeling low. Nothing like a good moan to get sympathy and I want sympathy in spadefulls at the moment. I have tried a good meal and lots of wine but it is definately going to take bucket loads of sympathy to lift this mood!
Tomorrow I will spend another day ploughing through another page of unintelligeable Russian and I don't think it is getting any better. A major strategy rethink is on the cards and possibly further copious amounts of wine!

From Leeds to Eternity

I have arrived in Leeds in the rainy season apparently! There is water everywhere. Thank goodness my room is on the fourth floor of the hotel!
Working in the archive has been a shock to the system and has really brought home how little Russian I know! My poor dictionary is exhausted! It is frustratingly slow but I keep hoping that as the week progresses I will speed up a bit. At this rate I am not going to get through many documents!

Happy New Year!

Christmas came and went. New Year has passed. A good time was had by all. Then there was the conference which was a resounding success. New friends were made and old acquaintances were not forgot. Here's to 2008. I hope it brings joy and happiness to you all and I look forward to the journey and crossing paths with many people and places.
